Louder, Stronger, Better… fuglier?

Sep1411:27

It may be louder, stronger, and better, but it sure as hell ain’t pretty yet. While I’m extremely happy with the layout, the structure, the markup, and the technical state of the new redesign, let’s face it, this thing is still kind of… er… fugly. I needed to get something up and online but like modern design icon Micheal Beirut says, ”Designers, you don’t have to be dumb. Just don’t be so afraid of being beautiful”.

Version 3.1 will primarily be an aesthetic upgrade with some minor usability tweaks here and there, perhaps an increase in the baseline from 12/18px to 14/21px for those of us with failing eyes. In the spirit of transcendence users of Internet Explorer 6 or below (a mere 7% of the visitors to this site) will need to upgrade in order to see the new design. Don’t fret ie minority, it will be the same content, you will just have to put up with the current cardboard look. So until next time…

Beauty, oh elusive beauty, I shall capture you in thy loins and slather your shiny goodness across the face of this mighty website.
